The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday that the two passengers who perished in a small plane crash on Friday at Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lantana have been identified.
They were identified as Stanley Sands, 76, of Lake Worth Beach, and Ana Diego Matias, 20, of Lantana.
According to Peter C. Knudson from the National Transportation Board’s public relations, the single-engine Cessna 172 disaster happened during a training flight.
Sands was listed on Airmax Aviation’s website as a flight instructor. On a GoFundMe campaign created by her aunt, Matias was labeled as a student pilot with the following statement: “She would always talk about being a pilot since she was a little girl.”
Sands was described as a former corporate jet on his LinkedIn page.
