Robert Jones, the men’s basketball coach at Norfolk State University, expressed his grief and frustration, stating, “This senseless gun violence has to stop! Another young man lost. RIP Blake Bozeman and condolences to Coach Todd Bozeman. Damnit! Fierce competitor like his dad on that court, and we had many battles! This has to stop!”
Lisa Lattimore pleaded for prayers, sharing her anguish: “Please pray for my son, Jeremy, and the family of Blake Bozeman, one of his close friends and teammates. Todd Bozeman, a former college basketball coach born on November 2, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, had a notable coaching career. He is best known for his tenure as the head coach of the men’s basketball team at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal) from 1993 to 1996.
During his time at Cal, Bozeman achieved success, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament three times and the NIT once. However, his coaching career faced controversy due to allegations of rule violations in player recruitment and improper payments, ultimately resulting in his departure from Cal in 1996.
Following a hiatus from college basketball due to rule violations, Todd Bozeman returned to coaching in 2006 at Morgan State University. There, he successfully improved the program and guided the team to multiple appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
