Man from West Frankfort killed in tragic mining mishap in Hamilton County.
The victim engaged in a tragic coal mining accident early Saturday morning in Hamilton County has been identified as 41-year-old Cameron Fourez of West Frankfort.
A supplemental roof support apparently fell on top of Fourez while he was working underground around 2:30 on Saturday morning, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Fourez was taken to Hamilton Memorial Hospital, where it was eventually determined that his accident-related injuries were fatal.
According to a statement from Hamilton County Coal, state and federal authorities have started a formal investigation into the event.
The inquiries continue.
