Charlyne Yi is an American actress, musician, comedian, and writer. One of the most multitalented artists in Hollywood, she is best known for her acting role on Fox’s medical drama series ‘House,’ and for being the voice of Alice on ‘Summer Camp Island’ and the voice of Ruby on ‘Steven Universe.’ Born in Los Angeles, California, to a Philippines native, Yi attended Bloomington High School, where she developed an early interest in performing. Following high school, she began performing in theatres, including The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Yi then enrolled at University of California. However, she quit the course midway to pursue a full-time career in comedy. Her film debut came with the 2007 hit ‘Knocked Up’. This was followed by her screenwriting debut, the 2009 film ‘Paper Heart’ that earned her an award at the Sundance Film Festival. Besides being active in the showbiz, the multifaceted personality is also associated with many charities, including the non-profit Caring is Cool that she started in 2011.
