A man from Winston-Salem is charged with killing Dasia Gentry by shooting her.
25-year-old Rick Monroe Jr. was detained on Sunday.
Before 6:30 a.m., when police arrived at the Microtel Inn on Capitol Lodging Ct., they discovered Dasia Gentry, 25, who had been shot. Despite their best efforts, first responders were unable to revive Gentry. She passed away there and there.
The Criminal Investigations Division of the Winston-Salem Police Department arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. Following the inquiry, Monroe was charged with voluntary manslaughter and criminal possession of a handgun.
According to the investigators, Monroe and Gentry were dating domestically at the time of the event.
A $1,000,000 bond has been set for Monroe. He will show up in court on January 3.
