Daniel Malcolm Barfield, D.O., F.A.C.O.G, F.A.C.S. Dr. Barfield is a Board Certified physician in the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. He is a Fellow of both The American College of Obstetrics and
Gynecology, and The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Barfield performs advanced operative laparoscopy and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Barfield completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Emory University. He is a 2000 graduate of NOVA Southeastern University School of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his internship at the Children’s and Women’s Hospital of the University of South Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Georgia. His cosmetic surgery training was with Drs. Marco Pelosi II/III and the International Society of Cosmetogynecology.

In his medical practice, Dr. Barfield focuses on obstetrical care and delivery, minimally invasive gynecology, pelvic reconstruction, infertiltiy and cosmetic surgery. He is one of the few gynecologists who can perform hysterectomies on a completely outpatient basis. His patients go home in one to two hours instead of days. Since 2006, the doctors of Cartersville Ob/Gyn have safely discharged patients home within a few hours after their hysterectomy. Less than one percent of Dr. Barfield’s hysterectomy patients require a large abdominal incision (99% are either total laparoscopic or vaginal). He is one of the founding partners of the Georgia Advanced Surgery Center for Women (GASCW). His association with GASCW allows his patients to undergo a hysterectomy without ever entering a hospital and go home within a few hours of surgery.
