A incident involving three automobiles on the eastbound lanes of US 190 shortly after 6 o’clock on April 6 resulted in the deaths of two boys, according to Texas DPS.

DPS troopers claim that the 2004 Chevrolet pick-up’s 17-year-old driver, who was initially traveling west on US 190, caused the accident by making a U-turn directly into the path of two other vehicles. According to DPS, a 2020 Chevrolet Sonic and a 2017 Ford F-350 were both struck by the 17-year-old motorist.

Eight and ten-year-old boys who were passengers in the Sonic were killed in the collision, according to DPS. The children were identified as Devlin and Shae Eveleth in a GoFundMe account created to assist the family with paying funeral and burial costs.

The 35-year-old female driver of the Sonic the boys were riding in was also rushed to a local hospital with critical wounds.

The teen driver of the Chevy pickup truck was also hurt in the incident, according to DPS, but no new information was given regarding their health.

According to DPS, it is uncertain if the Ford F-350’s driver, who was only identified as a 42-year-old man, was hurt.

“Texas DPS wants to remind motorists to abide by all traffic regulations and signs. Breaking traffic laws significantly increases the likelihood of getting involved in a collision. Giving right-of-way to cars coming from the front and/or rear is required while doing a U-turn, the DPS stated in a statement.

The inquiry into this collision is ongoing.
