Bernadette Mayer, a renowned poet, word-master, and word-mistress, died quietly yesterday night at the age of 77 in her home. This is sad news to share. enormous loss Our sincere condolences are sent to her family (who were present with her) and her countless friends.
We highlighted her earlier this year (on the occasion of her birthday, May 12) with transcription of a 1989 workshop at Naropa, where she spoke on the circumstances surrounding the publication of several of her early books in lively and true idiosyncratic, entertaining Bernadette-fashion (see here and here).
