Shapoor Pallonji Mistry

Irish construction tycoon Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry, who was of Indian descent and was worth $1 billion, lived from 1929 until 2022. He served as the Shapoorji Pallonji Group’s chairman and a significant stakeholder in the Tata Group, the largest private conglomerate in India. He was among the richest persons on the planet.

Due to his 2003 marriage to Pat “Patsy” Perin Dubash, an Irish citizen who was born in Dublin’s Hatch Street Nursing House in September 1939, Pallonji was able to renounce his Indian citizenship and acquire Irish citizenship.

She is alive and survives him at age 83.

He continued to live in Mumbai. The family’s passion for horses is partly responsible for their interest in Ireland; Mistry possessed a 10,000 square foot (930 square meters) house and a 200 acre (0.81 km2) stud farm in Pune, India.

Mistry has two daughters and two boys. His younger son, Cyrus Mistry, held the position of chairman of the Tata group for a period, while his older son, Shapoor Mistry (b. 1964), manages the Shapoorji Pallonji group. Laila is Mistry’s elder daughter, while Aloo, his younger daughter, is already married.

For his achievements in commerce and industry, the Indian government honored him with the Padma Bhushan in January 2016.

In his 2008 book The Moguls of Real Estate, Manoj Namburu included a brief history of Mistry.
