A devastating two-vehicle collision, involving a dump truck and a Toyota Camry, has claimed the life of Jacob Roberts. The accident occurred late on Wednesday night in Prince George’s County, prompting an investigation by the Maryland State Police.
The incident unfolded shortly before 11 p.m., compelling troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack to respond to the scene situated along eastbound U.S. Route 50, east of Maryland Route 202. The crash involved a 1994 Toyota Camry and a 2004 Peterbilt dump truck, both of which were traveling in an easterly direction on Route 50.
Initial findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that the Toyota Camry collided with the rear of the dump truck. This tragic impact had dire consequences, resulting in the loss of life for Joan Louise Briggs, 26, a passenger in the Toyota. The emergency medical services team pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Jacob Donato Roberts, 25, the driver of the Toyota Camry, sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. Meanwhile, the driver of the dump truck declined medical treatment at the crash site.
In collaboration with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, lane closures and traffic management were organized to address the aftermath of the collision. The incident led to road closures that persisted for approximately four hours, as authorities worked to manage the situation.
