Midway through the 1990s, Blink-182, a band Tom formed with a few friends developed a fan base thanks to independent albums and constant touring. They signed with MCA Records in 1996, and the popular song “Dammit” was included on their second album, Dude Ranch.

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, a Blink-182 album from 2001, reached the top spot on the charts. The group achieved further success with Enema of the State, which sold over 15 million copies worldwide and was certified quadruple-platinum in the United States.

Blink’s untitled fifth studio album from 2003 showed a shift in the group’s attitude. DeLonge-driven internal strife led to the band’s dissolution in 2005.
