In connection with a hit-and-run incident that killed a 19-year-old resident of Stratford shortly after midnight on Saturday, police say they have detained a guy.
After a fatal hit-and-run accident on Stratford Avenue early on Saturday morning, Troy Watley, 28, of Stratford, was detained on suspicion of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility, misconduct with a motor vehicle, failure to avoid striking a pedestrian, reckless endangerment, and failure to maintain a proper lane.
According to a news release from Det. Rachel Crosby, Watley is suspected of running over and killing Michelle Rodriguez, 19, near St. Michael’s Cemetery on Stratford Avenue.
According to Crosby, Rodriguez was found laying on the road just after midnight on Saturday when police were called to the site.
According to Crosby, Rodriguez was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where she eventually passed away from her wounds.

Crosby claimed that information acquired from the collision site helped lead to Watley’s subsequent arrest. The bond for Watley’s detention is $100,000.
