After 40 rounds were fired in the Ensley neighbourhood of Birmingham, Alabama, rapper Li Heat was involved in a shooting that left one person dead and him injured.

Maleyk Kyre Bryant was recognised as the deceased victim by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He was 21.

Just before midnight, West Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of 34th Street. Officer Truman Fitzgerald reported that when they arrived on the scene, they saw a tiny sedan had collided with a parked car.

Bryant was found to be unconscious in the front seat. At 12:17 in the morning, Birmingham Fire & Rescue Service declared him dead there and then.

Li Heat was rushed to the hospital with injuries that were thought to be caused by non-life-threatening.
